Leary School held its annual graduation ceremony on Thursday, June 5th, at the amphitheater
of Mason District Park in Annandale, Virginia. The class of 2008 was one of the largest
for the Leary School programs in recent memory with 18 students completing their
secondary schooling.
These young men and women were all presented certificates, along with congratulatory
letters from area notables, including First Lady Laura Bush, Vice President Dick
Cheney, Governor Tim Kaine of Virginia, Senator Benjamin Cardin of Maryland, Senator
Jim Webb of Virginia, Congressman Albert Wynn of Maryland, County Executive Jack
Johnson of Prince George’s County, Maryland, Mason District Supervisor Penny Gross,
Mayor Adrian Fenty of the District of Columbia, and Ted Leonsis of the Washington
Capitals. Those who successfully completed their high school requirements also received
their high school diplomas.

Following this ceremony, the graduates and their families shared a picnic lunch with
staff from both campuses and several of the representatives from the various referring
agencies in the pavilion at the park.
