Leary School Job Site
Page 3

Alan PeckThe eighth home construction project from the Leary School JobSite is now complete and the new owners have moved in!

This two-story, four bedroom home with two and a half baths is the largest undertaking of the JobSite program in the 17 years the program has been in existence.

This home has a formal dining room, a large family room with a gas fireplace, a kitchen, a laundry room, and a half bath on the first floor. A large utility room next to the laundry room provides the owners with additional storage space. Hardwood floors in the entry way give that area a dramatic look. A side door provides access from the driveway to the kitchen area, allowing for easy entrance for groceries or muddy shoes.

The second floor has, in addition to the four bedrooms, two full baths, a large walk in closet in the master bedroom and access to a full second floor porch from one of the front bedrooms. The large area in the upstairs hall gives the upstairs an open feeling as you can see from these pictures.

On June 8, the staff and students of the JobSite hosted an open house and dedication to show off the completed house to neighbors, parents, and friends of Leary School. Following introductions and brief remarks from both Dr. Schultze, the President and Executive Director of Lincolnia Educational Foundation and staff of the Leary School JobSite, students led visitors through the home. Among the guests at the Open House were Penny Gross, Fairfax County Supervisor for Mason District and Lynda Smith, Fairfax County Supervisor for the Providence District.

Congratulations to all the students who worked on this project over the past two years! We wish everyone a good summer and we look forward to starting a new project this fall. Please watch the Leary School website (www.learyschool.org) for information and pictures when work begins in the fall.
