This year, we also had a guest speaker for the graduation address. Adrian Branch, who graduated from the University of Maryland in 1985 where he was a two-time, all Atlantic Coast Conference pick and two-time All American honorable mention, talked to the graduates and the rest of the audience about his experiences in high school, college and the NBA.

Following his graduation from the University of Maryland - where he is still the Terrapins' third all-time leading scorer - he was drafted in the second round by the Chicago Bulls. He then went on to win a World Championship with the Los Angeles Lakers in 1987 with "Magic" Johnson and Kareem Abduhl-Jabbar. Mr. Branch enjoyed a nine-year professional career, playing also with the New Jersey Jets, Portland Trail Blazers and the Minnesota Timberwolves. Mr. Branch's talk was very well received and the students, in particular, were excited about the opportunity to meet a professional basketball player!

Following this ceremony, the graduates and their families shared a picnic lunch with staff from both campuses and several of the representatives from the various referring agencies in the pavilion at the park.
