 Improvements
have recently been made on the site, including adding bi-weekly notes from each of
the campuses to keep visitors up to date on activities at the school program. There
is also a new "headline feature" on the home page for any important announcements
(weather delays or cancellations, updates on terrorism code activity, etc.). Watch
also for pictures and progress notes as the Leary School Job Site goes into the second
year of their current new house project scheduled for completion in June 2004.
Please give us feedback on the website, along with any ideas you might have for improvements
that would make it even better!
As cold weather approaches, we would like to remind you of our emergency
closings procedures. Please keep this handy for future reference!
LEARY SCHOOL OF VIRGINIA
 If
Fairfax County Public Schools are closed due to weather, Leary School of Virginia
will also be closed. If Fairfax County Schools open late or dismiss early, Leary
School of Virginia will follow that schedule. If school opens two hours late on Monday
due to weather, Leary School of Virginia will dismiss at 3:15 instead of our usual
1:15.
For Prince George's County students who attend the Leary School of Virginia campus:
- If Prince George's County Schools are opening later than Fairfax County Schools,
transportation for Prince George's County students will be at the later time;
- If Prince George's County Schools are opening earlier than Fairfax County Schools,
transportation for Prince George's County students will be at the later time;
- If there is an early dismissal, Prince George's County will transport at the
earlier dismissal time, whether it be Prince George's County or Fairfax County's;
- If Prince George's County Schools are closed and Fairfax County Schools are
open, Prince George's County will not provide transportation. Prince George's
County will also not provide transportation on Mondays if there is a two-hour
delay for Fairfax County Schools. Leary School of Virginia will work hard with
all of our families to coordinate and provide transportation in such circumstances.
LEARY SCHOOL, PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY
 Leary
School, Prince George's County follows the announcement for Prince George's County
Schools. If Prince George's County Schools are closed, Leary School, Prince George's
County will also be closed. If Prince George's County Schools open late or dismiss
early, Leary School, Prince George's County, will follow the same schedule.
If school opens two hours late on Monday, dismissal at Leary School, Prince George's
County, will be at 2:40 instead of 12:40. Prince George's County, however, will not
provide transportation on those days. As in Virginia, Leary School, Prince George's
County, will work hard with all of our families to coordinate and provide transportation
in such circumstances.
Information about closings and delays are broadcast on most local radio and television
stations. Families of students the Leary School of Virginia campus should listen
for the announcement for "Fairfax County Schools" while families of students at the
Leary School, Prince George's County, campus should listen for the announcement for "Prince
George's County Schools" since Leary School will not have a separate announcement.
Please also check our answering machine message at (703) 941-8150 and please make
sure you have discussed plans with your child in the event of delays or early closings.
